About

Chanel is a Trainee Solicitor in the Court of Protection team, assisting Melissa Law, Laura Mannering and Liam Cunningham with a wide range of health and welfare matters in the Court of Protection.

Chanel has attained an undergraduate degree in Law, and has recently completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) along with a master’s degree in Law, Business and Management.

Chanel has gained experience in the Court of Protection department assisting on a variety of complex cases relating to residence and care, contact, internet and social media use, and decisions on the administration of the Covid vaccination.

Prior to joining the team, Chanel gained experience as a paralegal in Children and Education Law. During this time she assisted on cases ranging from representing children subject to care proceedings, assisting parents with the return of their child in international abduction cases and helping to secure EHCP’s for children with special educational needs. Chanel has previous paralegal experience in a busy criminal defence department working on cases involving vulnerable adults and youths in the criminal justice system.

Chanel has undertaken various voluntary roles; including participating in legal advice sessions hosted by the Citizens Advice Bureau, and delivering free advice sessions in a Legal Advice Centre where she considered issues relating to welfare benefits, housing and debt.
