Working in the Court of Protection team, Colette specialises in dealing with health and welfare matters in the Court of Protection, including challenges to an urgent or standard authorisation which has been granted under the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DOLS). Colette is regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor and Paid Relevant Persons Representatives from various Advocacy services to act for incapacitated individuals. Colette also has experience representing family members in Court of Protection proceedings.
As a member of the Law Society Mental Health Accreditation Scheme, Colette also represents clients detained under civil and forensic sections of the Mental Health Act 2007 at Tribunals, Care Programme Approach meetings and Hospital Manager hearings.
In her spare time, Colette enjoys running and swimming. Recently she completed the ‘Scilly Swim Challenge’, six swims totalling 15km around the Isles of Scilly, raising money for a Cornish mental health charity, The Invictus Trust.
