About
Chanel studied Law with European Legal Systems at the University of East Anglia and completed a year abroad in Amsterdam. Chanel’s favourite module was ‘Law and Ethics of Reproductive Technologies’ which introduced her to the tension between ensuring protection and maintaining autonomy.
Whilst at the University of East Anglia, Chanel received a First for an essay examining whether case law strikes an appropriate balance between the right to privacy and freedom of expression – a principle that also extends to the Court of Protection. As part of the UEA Law Society, Chanel took on the role of Team Leader of Street Law, a pro bono programme through which she and her team delivered a presentation to Year 12 students on their rights relating to internet safety.
Chanel has extensive experience working in the Central Family Court as a Legal Administrative Officer, where her role included clerking for District and Circuit Judges.
