Paralegal – Election Law

We are looking for an enthusiastic committed individual to work in the Election law, media law, civil litigation team based in Waterloo.

You will have excellent IT skills and be prepared to a deadline  on high profile work. You will support three solicitors and ideally you will have the LPC or embarked on the new SQE route to qualification. It is the firm’s practice that at the end of your first year you would be considered for a training contract.

Secretary – Criminal Dept

Experienced Criminal Team Secretary Required for the Crime Team Based at Our Ilford Branch.

Edwards Duthie have an opening for an experienced and focused secretary/PA to work as part of an established Criminal team  

The position is a fulltime post working as part of the team that supports a very experienced, and busy senior solicitor.

The applicant will be expected to have organisational abilities to enable both control of the substantive paperwork, extensive administrative capabilities in order to fully support the fee-earner as well as strong secretarial skills and a high level of accurate typing ability.

This is a demanding role that requires the applicant to be flexible in regards to work and be able to prioritise work when instructed to do so. The applicant will also be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of the work.

The work includes the following:

1.

  • audio and copy typing of all documents as required using whatever software may currently by deployed by the firm.
  • answering telephone calls and personal enquiries from clients and other parties.  Ensuring that action agreed or required as a result of telephone calls are carried out effectively and to a conclusion.
  • ensuring that outgoing post is dealt with is a timely manner each day.
  • ensuring that filing is carried out regularly and kept up to date.
  • Photocopying, opening of files on the system, preparing court bundles and any other administrative tasks as required. Diary and rotas.

2. When capacity allows, assisting and covering for other secretarial staff in the firm as and when required.

3. Complying with all policies and procedures of the firm as published in the Office Manual, or other media.

4. Displaying at all times personal conduct of a high standard which will serve to enhance the reputation of the firm.

5. Carrying out such other tasks as the fee earner or the firm may reasonably request at any time.

Person Specification:

  • Administratively competent.
  • Able to work to tight deadlines .
  • Computer literate.
  • Flexible and positive attitude towards their work and that of the department.
  • Able to build relationships with colleagues and clients.

Private Client Team

Edwards Duthie Shamash Solicitors has an opportunity for a Solicitor to join our highly regarded Private Client Team.

The successful applicant should be at least 1 year PQE, with experience of managing a caseload of Private Client matters including Wills, Probate and Lasting Powers of Attorney.

In addition they will have excellent communication and inter-personal skills with a commitment to providing outstanding client service.

Mental Health Solicitor

Our Community Law Team has expertise in all areas of social welfare law, including housing & debt, community care and mental health law.

We now wish to recruit a mental health lawyer to join our Community Law Team at our office in Stratford, London E15.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years’ PQE and have attained their Law Society Mental Health Scheme accreditation.

They will also have advocacy experience, be a strong communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients while working in an organised and flexible manner.

Housing Caseworker/Solicitor

Our Community Law Team has expertise in all areas of social welfare law, including housing & debt, community care and mental health.  The team has a particularly strong reputation for housing law and has brought a number of significant cases over the last 10-15 years.  The team is proud to hold Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme contracts with the Legal Aid Agency in the County Courts at Edmonton and Romford and at the Stratford Housing Centre.

We now wish to recruit experienced housing caseworkers or solicitors to join our Community Law Team at our office in Stratford, London E15. Successful applicants will have a sound knowledge of housing law and litigation and ideally will have experience of acting as a duty advisor under a Housing Possession Court Duty Scheme. Experience of community care law is also desirable.

Salary according to experience.
