About

Joanna is a Housing Solicitor at Edwards Duthie Shamash, where she advises and represents tenants in a range of housing matters, including homelessness, possession proceedings, housing disrepair, unlawful eviction and housing-related public law challenges.

Joanna is passionate about housing as a human right and believes that everyone should have a roof over their head. She is committed to empowering tenants to understand and assert their rights, ensuring they are informed about their options and supported in challenging unfair treatment. She recognises the significant impact that housing insecurity can have on individuals and families and strives to provide practical, compassionate and effective legal advice.

Her interest in housing law began through volunteering at Citizens Advice Bureau, where she developed an appreciation of the barriers people can face when seeking advice and support. Joanna is also qualified to practise in New South Wales, Australia, giving her an international perspective on legal practice.

Joanna graduated with distinctions in the Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) from the University of Law, and in the Legal Practice Course (LPC) and Master of Laws (LLM) from BPP University.
