About

Joseph (Jay) graduated from the University of Southampton with a 2:1 degree in Law. His dissertation examined unfairness in credit law with a focus on the effect of sample input bias on credit scoring , how it may perpetuate the financial disenfranchisement of ethnic minorities and how this may be mitigated by the replacement of traditional financial intermediaries.

Prior to joining Edward Duthie Shamash in August 2026, Jay worked at Powell Spencer & Partners gaining experience in a legal practice environment. He is currently undertaking the Police Station Representatives Accreditation Scheme (PSRAS), further developing his knowledge and skills in criminal law and police station representation. He looks to undertake SQE 1 and SQE 2 in the near future.

Jay is committed to providing a high standard of client care, approaching each matter with professionalism and close attention to detail. He recognizes the importance of clear communication and ensuring that clients feel supported throughout their legal proceedings.
