Youth Acquitted of Murder at Beckton Showcase
A youth, accused of murder and represented by Phillip Law of Edwards Duthie Shamash, was acquitted upon the direction of Recorder of London earlier this month.
An incident occurred in Beckton on 19 February 2010 which saw Olukorede Fanjinmi fatally injured. Various youths were intially detained by officers. One was eventually charged with murder.
After a trial lasting two weeks, the Recorder of London directed the jury to acquit the defendant. He described the case as ‘wholly unique’ in his ’15 years of trying homicides.
