Kavita joined Edwards Duthie Shamash in August 2009. Kavita trained with the firm and qualified as a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution department in December 2012. Kavita was appointed a Salaried Partner in April 2017.
Experience & Areas of Expertise
Kavita has experience in civil and commercial litigation including; contentious probate, professional negligence, shareholder/partnership disputes and breach of fiduciary duties, contractual disputes and insolvency and debt recovery. Kavita also has experience in agricultural and property litigation including commercial and residential possession proceedings, forfeiture, landlord and tenant, freeholder and leaseholder, lease extensions and renewals, dilapidations, succession, agricultural holdings and boundary disputes.
Kavita graduated with an Honours Degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Essex and completed the Legal Practice Course with commendation at BPP Law School in London.
Clients/Cases of Interest
- Kavita represented the Claimant in Dada v Adeyeye – a case in relation to a claim for unlawful eviction and failure to protect a tenancy deposit. The case was published in the LAG Magazine, March 2012 edition.
- Kavita assisted in successfully representing the Claimant in Greaves v Stolkin – a contentious probate case in which the High Court gave judgment in favour of the Claimant that the disputed codicil was valid, and should be admitted to probate. Kavita has since been involved in numerous contentious probate matters which have successfully settled with favourable results for her clients. Kavita is currently representing the Claimant in a case to be heard in the High Court in May, concerning the validity of a will which is contested by the opponent.
