Edwards Duthie Shamash were recently successful in securing an acquittal in a very serious drugs trial conducted at Blackfriars Crown Court. The Defendant was charged with being concerned with the fraudulent importation of heroin and cocaine said to be in the region of approximately £25m.

Edwards Duthie Shamash secure acquittal in major drugs trial

Edwards Duthie Shamash were recently successful in securing an acquittal in a very serious drugs trial conducted at Blackfriars Crown Court. The Defendant was charged with being concerned with the fraudulent importation of heroin and cocaine said to be in the region of approximately £25m.   This was contested, the defence being that the Defendant did not know that any drugs were being imported and that he believed that all consignments had an innocent purpose.  The proceedings involved three Defendants were protracted, lasting just over four weeks.  Our client was acquitted of this extremely serious allegation by the unanimous verdict of the jury.

The persons at Edwards Duthie Shamash who were involved in this case included Shaun Murphy and Shabaz Ahmed.   Shaun Murphy acted as the Advocate and Shabaz Ahmed as the Litigator.
