Edwards Duthie Shamash acted for Mr Simon Matthews who was arrested and detained by the police without any justification. He was held in custody for 24 hours until his release was ordered by the Magistrates Court. Thereafter Edwards Duthie Shamash brought proceedings in the County Court on behalf of Mr Matthews against the Metropolitan Police. These have been settled with the Metropolitan Police agreeing to pay Mr Matthews the sum of £8,500 in damages plus provision for his costs.
